How do I apply?

To be considered for a scholarship at UNSW, you must first complete an online application through UAC.

This includes submitting your academic record (transcripts) from previous institutions, personal statement (which should include any relevant work experience), and English language proficiency test scores (if applicable).

Once you’ve submitted these documents, it may take up to two weeks before they appear in your UAC account.

From there, it will take another week or so before UAC sends off your documents to UNSW. Once that happens, review all of your documents carefully and make sure everything looks correct before submitting them again, this time directly to UNSW.

If everything goes smoothly with that step, then congratulations. You are now officially a candidate for UNSW scholarships.

What types of awards are available?

There are three different types of awards available at UNSW:

General entry, Departmental entry, and faculty-specific entry.

General entry awards are open to all students regardless of their field or major; departmental entries are only open to those who plan on studying within that specific department; and faculty-specific entries require applicants to meet certain criteria based on their intended major.

For example, if you’re applying for a Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology award, you must either have completed Year 12 Maths Methods 1/2/3 or have equivalent knowledge in order to qualify.

As mentioned above, you can find out which awards are available to you by reviewing your UAC portal.

Can I apply for multiple scholarships?

Absolutely! Many students choose to apply for multiple UNSW scholarships because some of them carry over $5,000 per year while others carry over $10,000 per year.

As long as you meet the requirements and submit each application separately by its deadline date, then yes, you can definitely try for multiple scholarships.

Do my grades matter?

Yes! Your GPA plays a huge role in determining whether or not you receive a scholarship at UNSW.

However, don’t worry too much if your GPA isn’t perfect. Students with lower GPAs can still get scholarships provided they show a strong commitment to their coursework and provide detailed explanations for any low marks.
